Ref #: PTR08/350 Location: West Midlands Description: NPI / Supplier Sourcing Management - Aerospace projects Salary: to £53k plus enhanced beneftis package Our client is renowned as a market leader in the provision of control systems for a diverse range of aerospace applications on a global supply basis.
As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, a pivotal position has arisen for a Programme Sourcing Manager to oversee the activities of an established and effective team.
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of supplier input to programmes, ensuring that leverage is applied to achieve programme targets and maximise competitive business advantage through the life of a product. Co-ordinating activities across sites, project teams and commodity teams, the role will provide a single point of accountability for sourcing performance in relation to programmes and will also deliver the Business case targets.
To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, you will demonstrate knowledge and experience of working in the aerospace industry, possess relevant qualifications pertinent to the position and have at least 5 years experience of working in a project management capacity within an engineering manufacturing environment. With strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and customers respectively, it is vital that you have proven commercial awareness and abilities, and excel in all aspects of sourcing strategy deployment and sourcing input for all aspects of programme development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and reporting of Measures of Performance for sourcing contribution to Project and Programme activity, and will establish and agree material cost targets and subsequently track actual costs throughout the programme development cycle. They will ensure material cost drivers are understood and visible to the programme teams and ensure prototype and initial production parts are available on time to the programme schedule, realising opportunities to compress lead times and reduce time to market where appropriate. Additionally you will ensure suppliers are capable of meeting the agreed quality standards and ensure that a robust and appropriate supply chain is in place capable of meeting volume production requirements.
Additionally, you will communicate product technology requirements to the commodity teams and ensure that sourcing strategies and design rules are in place to support the programme, and ensure that programmes comply with sourcing strategies and design rules defined by commodity teams accordingly, keeping commodity teams aware of future programme requirements to aid future strategy development and providing guidance to the project team on the impact of customer specified terms and conditions in the supply base. It is essential therefore that customer terms and conditions are communicated to the commodity teams for flow-down to the suppliers.
