Electrical Engineer - South West - to £40k plus benefits

Location: South West of England - relocation available

Description: Electrical engineer required to deliver projects allied to rotating machinery from concept through to hardware and software design and commissioning.

Salary: to £40,000 plus benefits

 
Our client is an established and highly successful supplier to the power generation sector, and as a result of continued strategic growth and an ongoing programme of expansion, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Electrical Engineer to provide design input into a range of different projects and engine types allied to large rotating machinery, generators and turbines for power station applications. The successful candidate will therefore undertake a diverse range of project responsibilities that will include:
 
  • Electrical system (MV LV and control) design with supporting design calculations.
  • Creation and maintenance of PLC and SCADA software
  • Creation and maintenance of functional design specifications whilst ensuring compliance with applicable standards
  • Compilation of technical construction files to support CE marking
  • Technical assistance for commissioning of gas turbine generation and mechanical drive packages and associated electrical systems on site
  • Creation and maintenance of bills of material
  • Working with CAD designer to produce electrical drawings (CAD experience not required but the ability to read schematics is essential)
  • Technical liaison with customers and suppliers.
  • Assessment and selection of components from approved suppliers
  • Responding to supplier enquires
  • Technical support to the Sales, Projects, Production, Test and Customer Support Departments
 
To be considered for this diverse and challenging opportunity, the successful candidate will be an Engineering professional with a recognised HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, and able to demonstrate a successful track record in electrical design and site test, commissioning and fault finding on rotating machines and controls.
 
A proactive approach to problem solving with the ability to plan ahead, meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities is essential along with the ability to work under your own initiative to work as part of a multi disciplined team. A second language would be advantageous and the ability to undertake short overseas visits.
