The client design, develop, manufacture and market aerospace products allied to both the defence and civil sectors globally, and as a result of continued success and a strategic programme of planned growth for 2009, are now actively seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Procurement Contracts Specialist to work within a dynamic and highly successfully team ensuring the delivery of multi million pound projects to customers throughout the world. This exciting opportunity will challenge the most experienced of purchasing and procurement professionals, as the position of Procurement Contracts Specialist is tasked with agreeing contracts with a supply base to acquire specific goods and services for internal and external customers on time and within budget and to the correct quality standard. You will conduct procurement activity in a way that optimises commercial advantage for the business and minimises risk, and therefore your ability to prioritise your work in order to complete defined tasks and activities effectively is critical. Main tasks and activities will include (but not be limited to)
· Understanding the service and or goods that are or will be required by the company.
· Selecting appropriate suppliers from existing approved suppliers, (or recommending new suppliers and obtaining approval), that can deliver goods or services in accordance with the company requirements for quality, cost and delivery.
· Establishing appropriate contracts to deliver the goods or and services that meet the business needs.
· Achieving profitable business at minimum risk throughout negotiations and contract management activities
· Developing and maintaining resources and information sources necessary to keep abreast of the appropriate technology and product development together with current and future developments in the market supply base
· Devising and implementing appropriate procurement strategies and negotiating contracts with suppliers for complex products and services, to meet current and future business needs that maximise company profitability
· Driving and directing critical activities with suppliers to ensure on time delivery of goods to the contract conditions
· Developing appropriate supplier relationships that meet the current and future business needs to enable the suppliers to perform and meet our business objectives and targets
· Maintaining and having available accurate and up to date contract documentation, negotiating and incorporating any applicable contract conditions
· Monitoring and acting on MRP, (material requirement planning), exception messages with a view to maintain a balanced order book.
· Identifying and estimating levels of risk to the company and taking appropriate preventative and mitigation actions
To be considered for this exceptional position, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to influence internally and externally and solve problems using own initiative or on occasion by seeking assistance, as well as advanced team working skills and the ability to co-ordinate multi-functional team activity. Organisational awareness of Company Functional areas and purpose and strong computer literacy (competent with SAP) are also important. Additionally, relevant experience with proven examples of performance improvement against core objectives (eg cost reduction, schedule adherence, lead time reduction etc) will prove distinctly advantageous. You will have either proven ability to perform effectively in an equal or more advanced Procurement/Commercial position and/or ONC/HNC Business studies (or equivalent) and or MCIPS Corporate qualification and hold a valid driving licence, as the willingness and flexibility to travel within both the UK and occasionally overseas is essential.
