The client design, develop, manufacture and market aerospace products allied to both the defence and civil sectors globally, and as a result of continued success and a strategic programme of planned growth for 2009, have created a new position of Procurement Specialist within the Indirect Procurement department, to agree contracts for specific goods and services for internal and external customers on time and within budget from the supply base, and to collect, analyse and interpret information from the supply base to support the company bid process. The main activities of the successful candidate will include (but not be limited to):
 
·         Maintaining effective and efficient supply relationships and mechanisms with predominantly established suppliers to encourage and sustain a quality supply service
·         Within given levels of authority, agree pricing, delivery and quality standards with suppliers for specific parts, equipment or services and contract in a timely manner
·         Maintaining an accurate record of proceedings through to contract completion and conduct completion activities
·         Prepare and issue requests for proposals to external suppliers in accordance with Departmental and Company operating procedures
·         Support complex/high value negotiations by gathering and interpreting data from existing and potential suppliers and by participating in internal customer or supplier meetings
·         Drive and direct critical activities with defined suppliers to ensure that delivery of the contracted product or services to the customer at the contracted time
·         Liaise with internal customers, suppliers and other departments to advise on progress of activities to achieve on-time delivery to the required specification
·         Conduct regular reviews with suppliers to monitor, identify and report on issues as required to ensure that contract conditions are complied with, and agreeing targeted and actual levels of performance with suppliers, providing regular opportunities for discussion and feedback on performance levels achieved
 
To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, the successful candidate will demonstrate proven experience and an aptitude for Procurement Governance & Control, e.g. defining clear audit trails and the ability to prioritise work in order to discharge defined tasks and activities effectively. Additionally, you will be instrumental in the development, implementation and maintenance of departmental processes, so the ability to communicate at all levels within the Company and to have a mature attitude is a prerequisite. A broad understanding of a wide range of commodities for which the department is responsible and ideally, experience of working with people from other cultures and countries with the flexibility and willingness to travel whilst working as part of a team are essential requirements.
