Ref: PTR10/828 Location: Yorkshire Description: Senior Project Development Professional with creative product design and development through to volume manufacture experience required Salary: to £40k Established more than 25 years ago, our niche market client have developed an impressive reputation across the globe offering highest quality, innovative and unique products in line with specific customer needs, and as a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a proactive, professional and highly self motivated and dynamic Senior Project Development Manager to coordinate, drive and bring to market the creation of innovative and effective design lead products to both UK and Global markets, and ensuring continued number 1 status in terms of quality, safety, durability and effectiveness whilst adhering to specific cost targets and time constraints from concept to volume production. The successful candidate will therefore demonstrate uncompromising, unfailing attention to detail in everything that they do and produce, and will be directly responsible for managing the supply base, and quickly develop a full appreciation of their strengths, weaknesses and technical ability – sourcing new suppliers where appropriate.
You will assist in the production of Design Briefs, Specs and Inspection instructions as necessary and will work closely with other Technical Managers acting as a flexible Technical & Development resource, assisting with project management and problem solving as necessary, and helping to bring engineering disciplines into the development process (FMEA, Cause and Effect) whilst maintaining and retaining accurate records of the development cycle for due diligence purposes.
Additionally you will demonstrate critical path understanding, directing the wider team to deliver product on time and within budget, liaising with internal quality, technical, services and spares divisions to ensure the effective assessment and test of products and will play an active part in the design process and in ensuring all product designs are actually able to be manufactured.
You will additionally be flexible and prepared to travel to the Far East and Europe when required, as well as able to effectively problem solve issues in a practical and engineering capacity, and able to assess assembly and packaging implications to maximise freight efficiency and prevent transit damage.
Possessing excellent inspirational and motivational skills to ensure your team excel in everything they do, you will introduce an uncompromising attention to detail culture ensuring 100% productivity from the team. Technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrications, castings, injection moulding, prototyping and management of manufacturing processes are all key areas of this position, and in addition to this, previous experience of working with Far Eastern suppliers and exposure to product costings, budgets and sourcing will also prove distinctly advantageous.
