Ref: PTR10/873 Location: West Midlands Description: Junior Electrical & Control Systems Engineer - 6 months Contract (initially) with scope to extend / temp to perm working on a range of hardware and software special puspose machinery solutions. Salary: to £25k (pro rata) Our client is renowned as a world leader in the competitive and technically demanding arena of production and packaging machinery, a reputation attained as a result of consistent success in all areas of new product development, bespoke solutions for productivity improvement and constant manufacturing machinery design innovation.
As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self motivated and accomplished Junior Control Systems & Software Engineer to compliment their existing team of design professionals, initially on a 6 month contract although there is scope for this to become a permanent opportunity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist expertise on Control Systems and Software applications for projects that meet customer requirements, and will design appropriate control systems and software applications for machine projects, whilst working closely with Project teams in order to ensure that their expertise is integrated with other specialist functions from machine concept through to commissioning. In addition to drafting general design specifications, integrating and programming PLC’s and designing servo drives and control solutions, you will provide customer support that can include visits to customer sites and help with installation and commissioning and troubleshooting when required.
To be considered for this challenging opportunity, you will possess a degree in Electrical / Software Engineering and ideally at least 2 years experience subsequent commercial experience gained within a special purpose machine manufacturing environment. Additionally you will possess experience of Bradley Control Logix and/or Siemens, ‘C’, Visual Basic, PLC Programming, Servo drives/controls, and of designing appropriate control systems and software applications, preferably for special purpose machines.
With excellent IT skills and knowledge, you will be a practical person who is down to earth and primarily concerned that machines will work efficiently and will meet customer requirements, whilst adopting an essential “good team player” approach to your work. The role offers scope to travel to customers’ premises whether in the UK or overseas, so flexibility is key alongwith the ability to work under pressure.
