Ref: PTR10/875 Location: West Yorkshire Description: Exceptional opportunity for a dynamic, self motivated and highly enthusiastic design professional to compliment the activities of a committed and highly successful new product development team. Salary: negotiable dependant upon experience Working within a multi disciplinary team on a range of major development projects, the successful candidate will contribute to concepts as part of the ODM R&D team, before realising concepts into manufacture with the emphasis on problem solving, prototyping, resolving mechanical issues via SolidWorks and working with the manufacturing division through to production. You will possess a genuine passion for design as well as strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload, with expertise in DFM, design for test and reliability engineering proving distinctly advantageous, as are strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
You will demonstrate a broad base of industry experience in taking complete product development from concept to market, and have proven mechanism and geometry experience gained within a product DFM environment. With strong 3D Cad skills in Pro Engineer and SolidWorks, you will be comfortable in detailing findings in a meticulous manner and contributing to product specification and modification documentation.
Able to make scale models to either prove or disprove initial ideas, you will liaise extensively with suppliers and confidently filter and prioritise ideas by SWOT analysis against set criteria, as well as conceptualise ideas through sketch work, Illustrator and Photoshop mediums in order to present features and benefits, estimated cost and timescales for design and development.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have attained a first degree in Industrial or Product Design and be able to demonstrate commercial experience in the use of engineering analysis within a product development environment, as well as exhaustive skills in the use of 3D Cad skills (preferably SolidWorks) and knowledge of high volume manufacturing methods and processes.
