Our client specialises in the design, development and implementation of automation and materials handling solutions for supply throughout the UK and Europe, and as a result of an ongoing programme of planned strategic growth, a new permanent position has been created for an experienced and highly capable Project Engineer within the Controls team, tasked with the project engineering and delivery of controls solutions for material handling systems offered to customers within an agreed timescale, and producing associated supporting documentation to the required standard.

 

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will be qualified to at least HND level in a relevant engineering discipline, and demonstrate at least 2 years or more of experience allied to project work and estimating activities within the materials handling sector, alongwith skills and experience of working with AutoCad, MS Excel, MS Project and other MS office suite applications, and will undertake extensive liaison with the sales project management and project engineering team in order to fully understand customer requirements and develop cost effective solutions accordingly.

 

You will additionally be responsible for producing detailed cost calculations covering Electrical Design, Outline power calculations, Panel Build, the selection of devices, Electrical installation, PLC network structure and software design, Interface to material flow controllers/warehouse management system, Commissioning and System visualisation packages, as well as being responsible for establishing realistic project plans and identifying key interface milestones.

 

You will also produce clear written documentation for submission with customer quotations, and work closely with sales project managers and subsidiary companies as well as internal engineering departments to develop cost effective control system solutions, assisting with project health and safety risk assessment to establish control system implications and liaising with various departments to agree the hours required to perform various activities associated with a project.

 

A team player able to focus on attention to detail, you will compile the controls pricing sheet for each project and provide internal pricing documentation for review at required meetings, and on winning a contract, discuss the pricing scheme with the relevant project manager, before reviewing the after-costings and close out report upon successful completion of a project.
