Salary: to £22k (negotiable dependant upon experience)

 
Our client, established for more than a century and renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field, are seeking to recruit a highly self motivated, dynamic and successful Production Buyer as a result of continued success and a planned programmed of strategic growth.
 
The successful candidate will undertake a key purchasing role covering all production associated requirements, as well as Consumables/maintenance contracts for the site, and will perform a role that entails significant interaction with the Material Controller in order to ensure timely and cost effective solutions, and will therefore suit only the most organized and enthusiastic of procurement professionals who are comfortable in working autonomously or as part of a team.
 
You will be responsible for converting all material requirements into Supplier orders, whilst developing long term supplier relationships in order to ensure that the clients’ key objectives are continually achieved. Additionally you will be responsible ensuring on time delivery, Quality (<350 ppm defects per annum) and Cost base stability. The role necessitates close liaison with suppliers to ensure minimal disruption to production, and in performing these duties, you will also ensure all key internal customers are kept fully up to date on issues that will affect production.
 
Able to consistently pay strong attention to detail, you will maintain data in conjunction with ISO 9001 requirements e.g. Engineering change data, and identify and see through to conclusion, cost down opportunities in conjunction with Supplier/Engineering and the end customer. 
 
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, it is essential that the successful candidate demonstrate knowledge of an MRP system, ideally obtained within a production environment, as well as strong negotiation skills when dealing with both suppliers and internal customers. Additional knowledge of Kanban systems and Dealer Managed Inventory programmes as well as the ability to read/use Engineering Drawings will prove to be distinctly advantageous.
 
You will ideally have attained a relevant qualification (Degree level and/or CIPS foundation stage) and be fully conversant with the MS Office suite, with a second European language again proving advantageous.
