Ref: PTR10/934 Location: Northampton, Oxford, Milton Keynes Description: Senior Controls professional required to undertake a range of lead engineering, electrical hardware and software project coordination activities within a busy automated materials handling solutions environment. Salary: to £45k + benefits Our clients specialise in the design, development and implementation of automated materials handling solutions for supply throughout the UK and Europe, and as a result of an ongoing programme of planned strategic growth, a new permanent position has been created for a Senior, experienced and highly capable Controls Design Engineer to provide complete controls design solutions including electrical design, software design and commissioning within the associated cost and time scale constraints of a materials handling project. Undertaking a range of duties allied to electrical design, software design and lead engineering, the successful candidate will interpret customer design input information to produce control system designs and manufacturing programmes as well as the production of all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications. You will design and produce electrical layout and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools and perform the procurement of electrical control panels and electrical installation services whilst liaising with suppliers on technical matters.
Additionally, relating to software design and development, you will produce material flow specifications and a visualisation database whilst assisting in Factory testing of the visualisation system prior to sending to site, before designing, producing and testing conveyor control software and following projects through to commissioning stages. You will then create the associated Health and Safety documentation including, but not limited to Method Statements and Risk Assessments and provide conveyor system training for the end user.
Utilising your previous lead engineer experience, you will be responsible for liaising with all internal customers and project teams and for both the coordination of and consistent delivery of electrical hardware and software design activities, overseeing all aspects of budgetary and time restraints on projects and undertaking controls design reviews for relevant projects when required.
To be considered for this exceptional opportunity you will ideally possess a degree in Electrical Engineering and be able to demonstrate proven CAD skills and at least 3 years experience in a comparable role.
