Ref: PTR10/994 Location: West Midlands Description: Experienced user of Inventor and Pro E required for busy DFM environment. Must be a team player and able to work autonomously or as part of an established team. Salary: to £32k plus benefits dependant upon experience
Our client, established for more than a century and renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field, are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly self motivated and capable Design Draughtsperson to compliment their established and highly successful existing design team.
The successful candidate will be qualified to at least HNC in Mechanical Engineering and will essentially demonstrate at least 5 years experience of working in a 3D design environment, ideally utilising Autodesk Inventor and Pro E packages as well as AutoCad for 2D work and possessing knowledge and experience of parametric design, with experience of CFD (Ansys CFX) and FEA (ProMechanica) proving distinctly advantageous.
You will be tasked with the creation of models and the subsequent production of manufacturing drawings using Inventor or Pro E within a fast moving environment producing steel fabrications and assemblies, whilst creating all supporting design notes and BOM’s for potential use at a later date, and will be experienced in following the design process through to the finalisation of 2D drawings before their onward transmission to the manufacturing team. Additionally, you will undertake the creation of generic parametric models so that future designs can be created more readily when there is an alteration in scale.
Reporting to the Drawing Office Manager, you will work autonomously and with minimal supervision and be able to demonstrate the ability to undertake a continuous improvement approach to designs for performance optimisation and cost reduction, producing manufacturing drawings and associated work instructions for a variety of special purpose equipment. You will possess excellent communication skills that will ensure your smooth integration into an established and traditional engineering team environment, alongwith a proven track record of achievement gained within a similarly fast paced DFM environment.
With an impressive order book for the coming months necessitating ongoing external recruitment, this is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced and capable engineer to join a stable and internationally renowned traditional design and manufacturing organisation, so if you believe you possess the relevant CAD/CAE skills to be considered and you are seeking a fresh challenge then contact the Design Team at Premier Technical Recruitment via email to
