Ref: PTR10/1014 Location: Bristol, South West England Description: Enthusiastic qualified engineer required to progress to Technical Manager role over the next 3 years within an internationally renowned manufacturing environment. Salary: to £27k plus benefits (obviously being reviewed over the progression process based upon achievement)
Our client is one of the worlds most highly regarded manufacturers of products for graphics finishing and display applications, and as a result of proactive strategic succession planning activities, an opportunity has been created for an enthusiastic individual to become an expert in their specialist field and realistically attain the position of Technical Manager over a 2 - 3 year period depending on performance.
Tasked with ensuring that the technical capabilities and resources of the business are subject to ongoing continuous improvement and that all members of the production team are educated to ensure this is maintained, the successful candidate will ensure that production output is of the highest quality, attained through constant process improvement, and will ensure that all raw materials are specified and checked to ensure maximum output, minimum waste and downtime are achieved, project managing all new process and product development actions and effectively becoming the “company reference library” in respect of new coating technologies, drying, UV curing and production processes.
The successful candidate will have a range of resources available to achieve new product development and product improvement goals, and you will systematically review all in-house products to ensure that documents and repeatable systems are in place to guarantee consistent product quality, and you will also regularly review these systems to seek improvements allied to quality, process, waste, environmental and performance issues. Additionally, you will become fully conversant with all technical aspects of both reverse gravure and hot melt coating techniques, NPD trials and experimentation (whilst ensuring H&S and housekeeping procedures are adhered to and are of the highest standard) as well as liaising with the Engineering Manager to identify planned maintenance and improvements where necessary. You will also be responsible for recording and managing all trials in accordance with the ISO procedures, recording and reducing waste, ensuring the Senior Management and Product Teams are kept updated with all aspects of new product development and working with the procurement team to ensure costings are recorded.
In addition to maintaining and improving product development and product improvement processes, procedures and supporting documentation, you will develop excellent technical relationships with the existing supplier base and evaluate potential new suppliers, and will develop new test methods for evaluating new and current products, recording findings and making them available to the company.
To be considered for this challenging role offering diversity as well as both progression and stability, it is envisaged the successful candidate will be AT LEAST degree qualified in a relevant engineering qualification (chemistry, physics or mechanical engineering) and demonstrate an analytical nature coupled with real world commercial skills, as well as Product development experience gained within a production environment and proven Commercial acumen and Customer Service experience. PC literate with excellent communication skills, you will be ambitious and self motivated and eager to demonstrate your capabilities.
