Our client is one of the worlds most highly regarded manufacturers of products for graphics finishing and display applications, and as a result of recent positive internal restructuring, are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly capable Hardware Technician to complement their established and successful team. Tasked with performing both pre and after sales technical support to a range of customers and end users, the successful candidate will ensure that the companies vacuum press, film and liquid lamination machines are fully supported both pre and post sales, and will provide dynamic and enthusiastic technical support to customers and colleagues regarding any technical aspect of the product portfolio, whilst providing electronics support to the technical team and performing Quality control checks on imported and manufactured machinery. Additionally, as your technical knowledge grows you will proactively maximise the benefits of developed relationships and identify potential further business opportunities with both new and existing contacts, so excellent customer facing communication skills are critical for the role. The successful candidate will support a team of engineers and demonstrate electro mechanical qualifications and ideally at least 12 months commercial experience within a relevant field, with the ability to understand electrical schematics and drawing layouts, as well as undertaking a range of test, fault find and repair activities on a range of special purpose machinery and equipment both in house and on site at customer premises throughout the UK, so flexibility to travel is paramount for this role. Working on a traditional Monday to Friday basis, you will perform fault finding and rectification activities on all hardware sold, and will be responsible for the update and maintenance of associated instruction books, technical data sheets and service programs, maintaining your own personal skill levels as well as keeping up to date with relevant CE approval requirements. Additionally you will be responsible for ensuring that the production environment is safe, tidy and efficient, and will perform a range of quality control related activities including keeping accurate service records whilst regularly reviewing these systems in a continuous improvement vein. Other duties will include maintaining the in-house Navision computer system in relation to the Press Build and press parts and becoming fully conversant with all technical aspects of Vacuum Press production and the usage techniques for all machines sold by the company, and for ensuring H&S and Housekeeping procedures are adhered to and are of the highest standard. As you would expect, a comprehensive structured training program is in place to ensure you achieve the desired skill levels in a realistic timescale. To be considered for this varied and challenging role, the successful candidate will possess a full, clean driving licence, a good understanding and knowledge of electrical circuits and a keen eye for detail, and excellent administration skills including skills in the MS Office Suite of software packages, and at least an HNC in mechanical or electronic engineering qualifications.
