Biomass Power Plant Operations Manager
to £60k + generous benefits

Description: Experienced Power Plant Operations Manager

Our client has a rich heritage spanning almost 200 years and is recognised globally as a market leading provider of bespoke solutions to the renewable energy and power plant sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and self-motivated Power Plant Operations Manager to coordinate the activities of an established and multidisciplinary Plant team. 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful Biomass Power Plant Operations Manager will form part of the Senior Management Team and will have full responsibility and authority for all aspects of day-to-day plant production, operations, generation and environmental performance of the plant in a safe, environmentally sound and economic manner with responsibilities including all production and safe system of work activities, ensuring the plant is optimised and operational activities are carried out to ensure availability and reliability are maximised at all times and taking proactive measures to improve plant reliability wherever applicable in order to meet and exceed daily production goals within permissible legal limits and applicable laws. 

You will be an effective contributor and key member of the site management team in what is a fast moving and dynamic 24/7 facility delivering contractual obligation to the client in relation to plant operations and strategic objectives, whilst also providing general administration support to the sites management team and for general meetings as required and conducting annual performance reviews as well as identifying necessary training and development solutions where applicable. You will be responsible for the implementation of all health, safety and environmental management policies and accountability for the management, performance and development of the Operations & Fuel Teams and their associated activities and will assist in cost-effective outage scheduling and all other forms of production optimisation. 

Adhering to all applicable Policies & Procedures at all times (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, EMS System, IMS System, Management Guide and any financial/accounting systems.as well as Safe Systems of Work and the role of the enforcement agency (H.S.E), you will be knowledgeable of the Environmental abatement requirements of modern Biomass plant and the role of the E.A. as well as Chemical processes associated with modern power plant such as water treatment and emission control and with knowledge and understanding of electrical distribution systems, their protection and switching up to 132KV. 

To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be an excellent communicator at all levels and qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant engineering discipline, and will demonstrate at least 8 years previous practical operational / power plant maintenance management experience, ideally gained in a thermal / process plant environment (although can include energy from waste, CCGT, coal or biomass applications) along with a good understanding of all HSE aspects and a relevant NEBOSH qualification. A full driving licence is also required as there will be occasions to visit other locations within the UK.
