Description: Our client is seeking experienced electrically biased, multi disciplinary commissioning and development engineers to assist in the creation and delivery of an array of automated solutions and special purpose machinery for a diverse range of applications across the UK.
Our client can demonstrate almost half a century’s expertise in the design, development and manufacture of bespoke automation and robotic systems for a diverse range of industry sectors and are regarded by many in the industry as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the whole of the UK. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Commissioning and Development Engineer (Controls) to complement their established and successful team and assist in the development and commissioning of innovative special purpose automation machinery to a range of customers UK wide (and occasional overseas travel where required).
The successful candidate will be tasked with both commissioning and developing special purpose automated machinery and systems within often strict project timescales and budget, and for organising and achieving successful customer sign off testing to specification and timescale (FAT & SAT). You will perform fault finding of control and safety systems both at Head Office and at customer sites and where necessary, modify and develop software, PLC & HMI coding for automation projects as required.
In addition to ensuring the automation solutions are delivered to appropriate H&S requirements, complying with the machinery directives and appropriate national and internal standards, you will also update associated electrical design documentation where necessary and also develop machine processes to achieve relevant performance requirements, performing programming on various robotic systems including 6-axis, SCARA & Delta robots, and undertaking the on-site support and servicing of mechanical and electrical systems as well as modifications and enhancements to existing systems, before providing end user training on delivered systems and liaising with customers and suppliers throughout project lifecycles.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be a multi skilled maintenance or service professional demonstrating excellent hands-on skills and a solid understanding of mechanical systems and machine control systems, ideally gained within an Automation systems or Machinery environment. PLC coding/troubleshooting experience with one or more of the following equipment would be an advantage (Omron, B&R, Siemens, Mitsubishi or similar) and experience of programming and integrating 6-axis, Scara or Delta robots into Automation systems would also prove advantageous.
You will possess appropriate Electrical qualifications combined with understanding of electrical systems, including commissioning and fault finding and an understanding of Pneumatic circuits, with experience of interfacing to Injection Moulding Machines again proving beneficial, and as the role is mobile, a full UK driving licence is essential for the position.
