Description: Multi skilled, articulate and enthusiastic Field Service / Commissioning Engineer required to develop their control software skills and provide complete systems support to customer hand over.
Our client can demonstrate almost half a century’s expertise in the design, development and manufacture of bespoke special purpose automation and robotic systems for a diverse range of industry sectors and are regarded by many in the industry as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the whole of the UK. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive Control System and Commissioning Engineer to complement their established and successful multidisciplinary team responsible for the delivery of machine control system solutions for a range of exciting machinery-based projects.
Tasked with writing & developing machine control software, PLC & HMI coding and associated safety systems for various automation projects and being responsible for both commissioning and developing special purpose automated machinery and ensuring successful customer sign off testing to specification and timescale (FAT & SAT), you will also be responsible for the electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special purpose automated machinery projects, delivering control and safety systems which comply with the requirements of the machinery directive and appropriate national & international standards and electrical system designs including the selection of components and generating detailed circuit diagrams and integrating with various robots, including Scara, Delta & 6-axis.
Able to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and fellow team members at all levels, and work both autonomously and as part of a team dedicated to delivering projects to plan, on time and within budget, you will be responsible for the creation of all associated electrical documentation including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents and bills of materials and for ensuring that machine electrical systems and safety system comply with all relevant European and international safety standards, maintaining clear concise technical documentation, design specifications and machine manuals and supervising the team of electrical technicians and controlling the build of machine control systems. You will also provide customer support that can include visits to customer’s site throughout the UK and to assist with the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting when required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of competence in software design and PLC coding experience (with experience of B&R, Omron, Siemens and Rockwell proving distinctly advantageous), and realistically qualified to degree level or above in a relevant electrical/electronic engineering or closely related control system discipline. With a high level of competence in electrical design for machine automation and knowledge of the ePlan design package, you will also possess a good understanding of the various national and international electrical standards for machine design and machine safety systems and requirements to CE mark machine systems, with experience of integrating Scara, Delta and 6-axis robots proving distinctly advantageous.
