Description: Experienced and enthusiastic Electrical Technician required to undertake both PPM and reactive breakdown, installation and test activities on a range of electrical systems within a busy manufacturing environment.
Our client is part of a multi-billion-pound global organisation employing more than 70,000 staff in over 100 countries and are recognised market leaders in their niche manufacturing sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Electrical Technician to complement their established and professional team based at their Worsley facility.
Tasked with installing, maintaining and repairing a range of electrical systems and equipment including switchgear, transformers, motors and generators in accordance with the latest IEE Wiring Regulations and company standards, you will additionally be responsible for performing routine maintenance and testing of electrical systems and equipment, including insulation resistance testing, earth loop impedance testing, and protective device testing.
Working alongside a team of contractors completing electrical maintenance on site, you will take control of areas of your responsibility whilst undertaking troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical faults and malfunctions, and implementing appropriate corrective actions to restore normal operation as soon as possible, whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant H&S regulations, including the safe isolation and de-energization of electrical systems and equipment prior to maintenance or repair work.
In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all associated maintenance and repair activities, including electrical test results, equipment specifications and spare parts inventory, and will provide technical support to the Operations teams and liaise with the central Engineering team, including participating in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives as and when required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least City and Guilds 2365 or 2357, or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the latest 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations with proven experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment. You will essentially possess experience of contractor management and permit to work safe systems of work, and experience of using a CMMS (preferably SAP Planned Maintenance).
With strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and rectify electrical faults and malfunctions working both autonomously and as part of a team, you will have good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels and a flexible approach to work with the ability to work on-call and outside of normal working hours when required with appropriate remuneration. You will also hold a valid UK driving licence as there may be occasions when you will visit sister locations or travel to other sites for training.
