Description: Proactive, organised and experienced Lead Engineer required to coordinate the activities of various divisions in order to ensure on time within budget automation project delivery.
Our client has been established for almost a quarter of a century and are recognised as market leaders in the provision of bespoke innovative materials handling and automation solutions to a diverse range of clients and industry sectors throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of exciting strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Engineer to complement their dynamic and professional team.
Working out of prestigious offices near Nottingham, the successful candidate will thrive within a technology focussed solutions environment and will be the go-to person for all technical queries as well as being the driving force in ensuring that your projects meet key milestones, and all main aspects of the projects including customer requirements, risks, budget, schedule and quality are controlled. Responsible for running multiple projects at any one time and working between the office and customer sites as required, core activities for this varied and challenging role will include (but not be limited to):
- Liaising effectively with project managers and other participants to provide assistance and technical support as required, and implementing and maintaining project tools including open points log, risk register and FMEA’s etc to ensure visibility of all stages to everyone as required.
- Supporting the project manager in planning and budgeting the project and immersing yourself in customer requirements and scope.
- Leading or attending internal or external meetings or design reviews as necessary
- Developing and implementing all test plans in the factory or at the customer site and leading technical handovers to production, installation, and contractors.
- Conducting site surveys to support design and installations and both developing or supporting the generation of associated key installation documentation e.g., install plans, RAMS and CDM packages as well as technical construction files and manuals.
- Leading shopfloor builds and onsite installations with internal and external departments and acting as the communication link between the customer, design, production, and site delivery teams.
- Assisting in maintaining safe job sites and always being alert for safety issues and adherence to safety policies.
To be considered for this diverse and genuinely exciting opportunity it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to Degree level or above in a relevant engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 2 years previous experience in successfully delivering automation or special purpose machinery projects in a manufacturing or materials handling environment, and as the job requires regular travel and overnight stays throughout the UK and abroad, a full UK driving licence is essential for the position, as is the flexibility to travel as required to ensure the on-time within-budget delivery of your projects.
