Description: Experienced, proactive and financially astute Senior Project Engineer required to ensure the on-time within-budget project delivery of a range of engineering projects throughout the UK.
Our client is part of a multi-billion-pound global organisation employing more than 70,000 staff in more than 80 countries and are recognised market leaders in their niche manufacturing sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive Senior Project Engineer to complement their established and professional team.
Based near Rotherham, the successful candidate will be tasked with supporting the team of project managers and engineers in the delivery of end-to-end projects (typically, £100K - £3M), and includes feasibility studies, estimates and proposals for both internal projects and third-party sales across all business areas in the UK & Ireland.
Responsible for the safe delivery of approved engineering projects in order to meet the needs of the business and support the execution and delivery both on time and within budget, you will demonstrate excellent commercial awareness in ensuring that project design/costs developed are competitive and fit for purpose in order to support the business in delivering the required returns, winning new third-party sales and balancing SHEQ requirements.
Additionally you will also be responsible for identifying and reporting project risks and for ensuring that the appropriate project strategies are supported and implemented – including variation management to increase sales and limiting/controlling supplier and contractor variations as they may arise.
Other duties will include (but not be limited to) planning and coordinating engineering resources (internal & external) to execute projects and develop Project Proposals to achieve financial approval for project budgets, and ensuring that contractors demonstrate ownership and understanding of the SHEQ strategy and objectives, and that the teams comply with applicable statutory requirements, company policies and procedures.
With excellent communication skills at all levels, you will build effective relationships with key customers and suppliers in order to ensure that the department is customer (internal & externally) focused and responsive, and you will manage all aspects of site construction activities (such as contractor control, permit to work, working at height, plant installations, mechanical and electrical installations, testing and commissioning of the inclusive of pressure testing, acceptance, documentation in the form of as built data and health and safety documentation).
To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HNC level or above in a relevant engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 3 years practical industrial experience gained in a relevant engineering environment.
** Whilst an IOSH/NEBOSH certificate will prove advantageous, it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence and possess previous project engineering experience gained in either contracting or operating company environments, and including proposals, tendering, sub-contract activity and financial/cost management experience, with a proven track record of successfully delivering engineering projects on time, cost and to appropriate SHEQ standards.**
