Description: Dynamic, proactive and experienced technical sales engineer with demonstrable automation and robotic systems experience required to undertake new business development and account management activities.
Our client can demonstrate almost half a century’s expertise in the design, development and manufacture of bespoke special purpose automation and robotic systems for a diverse range of industry sectors and are regarded by many in the industry as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the whole of the UK. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly self-motivated and proactive Sales Engineer to complement their established and successful business development team and assist in the identification and development of commercially attractive and mutually beneficial relationships through the provision of automation and robotic solution sales.
As an Automation and Robotics Sales Engineer, you will liaise extensively with both internal and external customers in order to develop a realistic pipeline of business with new and existing clients and to ensure the on-time within-budget successful delivery of projects, handling any and all enquiries quickly and accurately to ensure project success and ensuring the delivery of your individual sales target.
Reporting to the Sales Director, you will undertake a range of duties and responsibilities that will include (but not be limited to):
- Attending Customer sites to show support and understand their requirements
- Creating and maintaining Sales Analysis Sheets for each enquiry received
- Reporting enquiry results in the weekly Sales Meeting and providing visibility of future enquiries and potential market demands or competitor developments
- Assisting with concept ideas to support quotations and creating costing sheets for each enquiry
- Creating financially viable and commercially beneficial quotations for enquiries and reviewing internally prior to sending out to the Customer
- Understanding the budgetary and timescale requirements for the enquiry
- Regular communication with the Customer throughout the life of enquiry
- Setting up Sales Handover meetings to transfer details of the order over to the technical team and supporting the project team and the Customer throughout the project life cycle
- Attending project reviews and sign-off events with the project team
To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate previous sales experience gained through working with automation systems, ideally within the automotive, medical and healthcare, plastics or FMCG sectors, and will realistically be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant engineering or business-related discipline. With a self-motivated and organised approach to making the best use of your time as well as a high level of commercial acumen, you will possess excellent communication skills at all levels and be flexible to travel both within the UK and overseas as required.
